Beauty is Made of Flesh and Blood
91 x 61 cm, 2021
One cannot forever silence the voice of their heart nor stop the blood of their flesh. The physical form of beauty is the human body. Red is the color of all colors. Those two sum up everything that I require as an artist. This artwork has reflected its own creative process like a mirror. Meryl Streep has once said, quoting Carrie Fisher: “Take your broken heart, make it into art.”

Lucy and the Litchi
70 x 50 cm, 2021
In year 1974, a group of archaeologists was performing excavations in Ethiopia, while listening to The Beatles’s song ”Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” on repeat. They discovered fossilized bones belonging to an individual of the species australopithecus afarensis. They gave her a name: Lucy. My aim was to create a touching portrait of her, while listening to Sananda Maitreya’s and Des’ree’s duet ”Delicate” on repeat. Lucy was a hunter gatherer. Agriculture that started only 10 000 years ago, changed the human world profoundly. As land became something that can be owned instead of being shared, societies became filled with more and more oppression, violence, xenophobia and also the famous patriarchy arose. With Lucy, I want to awaken our beautiful heart of the hunter gatherer. That is our true nature: After all, it was our only way of life just a moment ago.

A Kiss
70 x 50 cm, 2021
“A Kiss” tells about a burning passion that keeps growing and growing between two people. They are so close, but at the same time so far from each other. With no skin contact, the erotic mood may be at its strongest. Lingering in desire is unbearable at its best, and always so mysteriously beautiful.

Stream of Consciousness
91 x 61 cm, 2020
”Stream of Consciousness” deals with the vivacity and torrent of thoughts. Sometimes the head is like an inexhaustible horn of abundance. The accelerating rhythm of endlessly interesting thoughts makes a curious mind race faster and heat up like a stove. There might be too many thoughts. The flowers symbolize not only thoughts, but also extensively the innermost of a person and all the countless different sides, qualities and possibilities that fit in one individual. Inside us we carry so many things that we don’t always even see ourselves. Curiousity towards life makes us figure them out time and time again.

The Eyes I
30 x 21 cm, 2018
”The Eyes”-series started with the exhibition ”Of All Flowers”, in which flowers symbolized gender diversity. In the baby-themed works, I speak up for each body’s uniqueness and everybody’s right to integrity. Especially intersex children are in a vulnerable position in our binary culture. I try to emphasize the baby’s eyes so that they reflect all their personnality and eventually all possible questions or definitions about the gender lose their meanings. In these works, the flower is a colourful and unique cradle, where a person can grow and swing in peace.

The Eyes II
30 x 21 cm, 2020

The Eyes III
30 x 21 cm, 2020

23 x 23 cm, 2020

”Hide and Seek” shows the interaction and play between babies swinging in the flowers of life. At the same time, the flowers represent each child’s uniqueness with their individual colours. Children are not interested in classifying each other by the colour of their skin or their gender.
They focus on the eyes and on everything that hides behind them.

The Wall
150 x 100 cm, 2019
The idea for this work originated when I felt an inexplicable desire to jump on the wall like a gecko. I couldn’t get over that mental image. I couldn’t jump on the wall, so I drew this picture.

Ground’s Power
50 x 40 cm, 2019
Delicate but strong anemones grow from rock fissures. Even in the most rugged environment, life wins and is transmitted from the ground to the toes. The earth is a very close and power giving element for the human species. We must stay in connection with the earth by keeping our feet on the ground and also by picking up the energy that it gives us. Just like the earth, is also our body full of growth material.

Survivors
40 x 30 cm, 2017
This work was made to celebrate 100 years old Finland. The flowers symbolise all the people who have struggled and worked hard to build this beautiful country, on a harsh base like this rocky uphill is.

Blaze
50 x 40 cm, 2019
From the life line grows a rose, which is known as a symbol of love. By picturing the red rose, I wanted to represent the strenght of feeling, the bursting and powerful nature of any emotion.

Char Will Remain
50 x 40 cm, 2020
From the fate line grows a black iris, that symbolises melancholy, a sorrow with no object.

You Got Me Trapped
50 x 40 cm, 2019
From the heart line grows a freesia, which means “You got me trapped!” in the language of flowers.

Hidden Feeling
50 x 40 cm, 2020
From the heart line grows a magnolia, a sensitive but strong flower.

A New Beginning
50 x 40 cm, 2018
From the fate line grows a gloxinia, a flower known as a symbol of separation.

Memories
50 x 40 cm, 2019
From the head line grows a viola, which is known as a symbol of remembrance, considering, loving thoughts and free thinking.

Sweetest Memory
50 x 40 cm, 2020
The sweetest memory warms the heart as one can recall it and stay with it for a little moment over and over again, burst with happiness.

61 x 91 cm, 2019
The flower of this piece was inspired by a saying: ”The flower of humor is the most beautiful one.” And it is its own kind. A little bit like an eustoma, but not at all. The flower tends to emerge from scratch even in very bleak circumstances, like between two people’s hands or behind the ear of a lonely person. People have always used flowers of humor as pets and gifts. Nevertheless, every now and then they are feared and people that hold power have countless times tried to eradicate it and to ban its cultivation. Until now it has never been accomplished perfectly.

Vogue
40 x 30 cm, 2019
Dancing art inspires me a lot, because it makes the postures beautiful and expressive at the same time. The body language is aesthetic and communicative without being too posing.

Word II
13 x 8 cm, 2019
From the earlobe grows a forget-me-not. A heard word sticks in the mind. The body remembers what it has heard, for both good and bad. At best, words unite people in the same way than given and received gifts.

Word I
16 x 11 cm, 2019
Behind the ear grows a wood sorrel. A heard word sticks in the mind.
